1. What’s your government name? And how old are you? Give the people a little background about you, who you are, where you from etc…
My name’s Jordan Allen and I’m a 15 year old rapper from a suburb in San Diego, California called Valley Center.
2. What is the meaning behind your rap name?/Where did it come from and why did you choose it?
I got the name from a couple of my homies who were helping me choose my rap name actually. I wanted a name that still related to who I am as a person, but also kind of gave me my own rap persona. Which is where “Jay” comes from.
3. How did you get into the game?
I’ve been rapping for about 3 years, but only for 1 and a half years have I been rapping and taking it seriously as a career.
4. So why do you rap? Is it like a hobby or a career move?
Honestly, I got into the game out of pure boredom. I used to be a hardcore gamer and one Summer this kid named Dylan who I used to play Xbox with came up with the idea to record a song. I still remember that song actually, I recorded it on this trashy headset microphone I got from Office Depot hahaha.
I rap because it’s my passion. It’s what I love to do. Some people play sports, some people smoke weed, some people play games, and me, I make music. It’s soothing. It’s relaxing. It just feels right. I plan on making it a career, and even if I don’t “blow up” I still plan on rapping on the side even if I end up with a normal 9-5 job.
5. Who inspires you/Who is your favorite rapper?
Man, I couldn’t even choose a favorite rapper if I had to. I’m inspired by literally everything. Every genre, every artist, everything. I think that’s where the versatility in my music comes from. People often think it’s me not having my “own style”, when it’s just me experimenting, having fun and being inspired by my own life. Although, if I had to choose artists that inspire me the most, I’d have to say a lot of Big L, Biggie, Jay-Z, Kanye West and of course 2Pac.
6. What are you trying to bring to the game?
As far as bringing something to the game goes, I’m just trying to bring the perspective of a normal kid, doing dope ass things. I’m not trying to bring anything back, I’m not trying to do any of that. I’m just making music for the love of making music and for the love of the people who love good, from the heart, music. I’m just being me. If the ‘game’ likes it, that’s great. If they don’t, oh well. My music is for the people who want something that we all can relate to and not the normal, cliche, “rapper” stuff.
7. What’s your favorite song or project you ever came out with?
It’s crazy because I don’t even have a favorite song of my own. They all have their own individual meaning to me and they all mean a lot. It’s like each of my songs are my own kids. As a parent, you don’t necessarily have a favorite kid. You love ’em all. As far as projects go, I have to say that my favorite project is the one I’m working on right now. Tons of great songs, I think the production and lyrical content is at its best, and I’m just hoping to keep progressing.
8. You got any projects coming out in the near future? If so, what are they?
Like I said, I’m working on a project right now. There’s no title or release date yet, but just know that it’s gonna be big and I think everyone will definitely enjoy it. I have production from the homie L.A. Beatz, who did all the production on The Jay Allen EP, which sounded great by the way. I’m looking forward to working on more stuff with him.
And finally where can the people find you at online?
